The final of the First Symphonic Tour

“Play the music I know in such a way so that I can feel I hear it for the first time!”
On 24 May, at the Witold Lutosławski Polish Radio Concert Studio the final of the First Symphonic Tour of the Polish National Wind Orchestra was held. After the performances which took place in Lubin, Łódź, Gdańsk, Wrocław, Szczecin and Kraków the wind orchestra from Lubin had an opportunity to perform for wide audience in the capital city of our country. The concert during which we could hear great masterpieces such as Maurice Ravel’s Bolero, Johann Strauss’s (son) Overture from the operetta “Die Fledermaus“, Gustav Holst’s Mars, George Gershwin’s Rapsody in Blue Toshio Mashima’s Birds and Krzysztof Penderecki’s Pittsburgh Overture – once again delighted the assembled audience, who, in heated backstage discussions, remained enthralled for a long time with the musical feast in which they had had the opportunity to participate. In addition, we heard a fragment of Georges Bizet’s Carmen – Suite, which was performed as an encore – during which Adam Rapa played the trumpet solo.
